I had my final-round interview set after dealing with scheduling issues because this company expects you to be available without offering flexibility or rescheduling options. But just 30 minutes before the interview last week, I was told that the role was being put on hold due to budget constraints. Today, I received an email saying they actually went with another candidate. I don’t understand why they couldn’t just be upfront from the start. I know these things happen, but giving false hope by saying they would reach out if funding allowed—especially after contacting my references, who gave glowing reviews—felt really unfair. If you're thinking about applying here, it’s something to keep in mind.

I applied for and interviewed for two paralegal jobs at LSNYC in the last couple years. The experience quality really changes depending on the unit. Both times I got an interview super fast. The first time they told me what the interview would cover and the questions actually stuck to that outline, which was cool for fairness. I heard back with a rejection pretty quickly, within like two weeks. The second time though, they didn't tell me the scope of questions – maybe breaking their own fairness rules? – and I never heard back at all, even after I emailed them a bunch. It's a bummer that some people can't even send a quick two-sentence email.

The interview was short and routine. They each asked a set of assigned questions, mainly about why you want to work there, what causes poverty, what you would do specifically to change the housing situation, etc.

The interview process involved approximately three rounds. It started with a general discussion with the team, followed by interviews with two supervisors or managing attorneys, and concluded with an interview with the department director. They had a set of questions they asked sequentially. The entire process spanned about a month.
