I interviewed at LeanPlum. The process included 1 technical phone screen and 5 onsite interviews. My experience was pretty bad. Even though the interviews went well and I thought I might get an offer, they never contacted me back with the results. I waited and emailed them several times, but they never responded. While hiring decisions are up to the company, they should at least acknowledge the time and effort candidates put into interviews. I've heard from others that this is a common issue with LeanPlum, suggesting they generally disregard candidates' time and effort. I'd advise staying away from this company.

For the initial phone interview, they insisted on a video chat even though I was only about 30 miles away. The interview involved a programming puzzle, which I found odd since puzzles aren't really useful for assessing skills. I managed to solve it after they eventually clarified the details, though it seemed like they weren't entirely sure about their own question or solution. They kept interrupting me, which made it hard to focus. After I solved it, they seemed annoyed. The whole experience felt more like a hazing ritual than a genuine interview, not really designed to test skills or intelligence, perhaps just to boost their egos. When asked about how their product stacks up against their main competitor, Optimizely, one interviewer admitted they hadn't even tried Optimizely.

I got contacted by a recruiter for the role. First, I had a brief call with the recruiter. Then, I had two video interviews, which were both technical coding phone screens. The interviewers were really nice and helpful. Right after that, I was invited for an onsite interview. The onsite consisted of a coding interview and a design interview. I also had a discussion about cultural fit with the hiring manager and the recruiter.
