LeanIX Software Engineer Interview Questions
& Process

I applied to LeanIX in Bonn. First, there was a quick phone call with HR. Then, a 1-hour interview with the team manager about my experience and cultural fit, which was detailed and cordial. After that, a take-home coding challenge. This was followed by a 2-hour technical interview. The final interview was 1.5 hours long with 2 engineers. They were friendly, and the live coding task was easy, which I completed correctly. They didn't ask tricky questions or deep dives, just wanted to see my thinking process. However, they didn't seem very interested. I got a canned rejection the same week, and they wouldn't give any feedback despite the effort I put into the home assignment.

So the interview process had two main parts: first, there was an online test, the Insight Predictive Assessment, which was about logic and stuff. Then, I had to go on-site for the second part. The on-site bit had three separate 30-minute chats. I spoke with HR, the hiring manager, and someone technical. They each asked about different things – like my background and what I want to do in the future, why I'm interested in the team, and also tested my technical knowledge and theory. The HR chat was specifically about my career goals and how I see myself growing.

I first had a meeting with the hiring manager. Then, I completed a skill assessment which included a home assignment, followed by a tech interview with two other engineers. The last step was a short chat with the VP of engineering. Everyone I met seemed really happy with their jobs and the company culture. The skills assessment was pretty extensive, but it was a good chance for me to show my strengths and give them a clear idea of my abilities. I also had a lot of flexibility in choosing how I wanted to tackle the assignment.
