First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LeafLink.
Account Executive
The interview process with Leaflink was pretty straightforward and felt streamlined, overall a really good experience. Everyone I spoke with was personable and easy to talk to, and they seemed genuinely interested in our conversations. The recruiting team was the best part; the recruiter communicated very clearly, gave good feedback, and kept me in the loop throughout the entire process. Even though I wasn't selected for the role, the interview experience itself was great!
- Can you tell me about yourself and your experience?
Director of Engineering
I recently went through a six-round interview process at LeafLink, which involved quite a bit of back and forth. It started well with a great recruiter, but communication slowed down towards the end, probably because she was overloaded. I was told about a technical interview with three senior engineers/managers but didn't get many details on the format. On the call, they decided to switch things up and asked me to diagram their CI/CD pipeline, walk them through it, talk about similar tools I've used, and threw in some random questions. I thought it went okay, but then I realized I couldn't see parts of the diagram on my screen, so I couldn't comment on those bits. It would have been better to get more info beforehand or in the invite. Later, there was an interview about areas for improvement where I got feedback on my skills, mostly negative, which was a bit unsettling, but I handled it okay. I'm not sure why they did this interview, maybe to see how I take criticism. After a few weeks, I had a 30-minute meet-and-greet with the VP of Product, which I felt went really well, and I was confident about my chances. The VP said I'd hear back that afternoon or by Monday at the latest, but I didn't get a response until the following Thursday, when I was told they weren't moving forward. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but the people were great. I really felt I was a good fit and could have met their needs.
- Can you describe our CI/CD pipeline using this diagram, detailing the tools you've used previously, and how you'd manage the entire process from start to finish?
- Please discuss any comparable tools you have utilized in your past positions.
- Respond to various spontaneous inquiries during the interview.
Operations Associate
I was first introduced to CeeCee, a recruiter at LeafLink, through a mutual connection. I had been in touch with her about at least three roles since March 2022. This role, Operations Associate, was the most formal interview process I went through. Everyone I spoke with was great - friendly, professional, and seemed passionate about their work. After speaking with four team members, including CeeCee, they decided to go with another candidate because I didn't have enough logistics experience. Even though I didn't get the offer, CeeCee has consistently kept me updated, been supportive, and let me know about future opportunities. She felt I was a good culture fit, but the timing and role weren't quite right.
- Can you share your background in operations and how you've tackled operational challenges?
- Discuss your experience in operations management, including stakeholder communication and reporting on operational data and KPIs.
Director
Applied online and HR reached out a few days later. The whole thing took over 3 months, which was the worst ever. They were hiring for a risk/compliance specialist but seemed unsure of what they needed. The GC showed up looking like a mess in a teeshirt. After a bunch of interviews, they said I'd meet the President for the final round. Then, they asked for an assessment, and three days after that, they ghosted me saying they weren't interested. What a disorganized place, honestly glad it didn't work out.
- Can you share why you're interested in this particular position?
- What draws you to the cannabis industry?
- Could you explain your interest in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and compliance?
