Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Le Pain Quotidien.
Chef
Barista
They wanted to know about my experience, previous employers, and past salaries. They're trying to get a feel for the kind of person I am and if I'd be a good fit for the company. Since they consider themselves an organic and biological restaurant, knowing a bit about that is beneficial.
- What makes you want to join Le Pain Quotidien?
Server
I applied online for a Server job. The next day, I got a call on my mobile for the first interview. The person I spoke with was nice and asked about me and my background. Then, I was invited to a group interview at one of the shops, which was a good experience. They offered me a trial shift for the next day. On the trial shift day, nobody introduced me to anyone. The Manager wasn't aware I was coming for a trial and seemed annoyed. I was assigned to a Senior Server who was supposed to shadow me, but he left me on my own and didn't explain anything about the business or the restaurant setup. No one helped me; I was pretty much left to figure things out. I was told to take food orders, but I didn't know the table numbers or when to include the complimentary sides with main courses. I got yelled at for making mistakes with food orders, and again, no one explained anything. I asked for help and had questions, but the staff seemed too busy to assist. It was a really bad experience.
- The interview was pretty straightforward overall.
