First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LCBO.
Financial Analyst
First, I had a 15-minute phone chat with HR, which was laid-back and friendly. About a week later, I went in for an in-person interview that lasted an hour. During this meeting, the interviewers gave a quick overview of the job responsibilities and what a typical day looks like, then asked some questions. The whole conversation felt pretty relaxed.
- When faced with numerous deadlines, how do you approach task prioritization?
Manager
The interview process was efficient, and both the internal recruiter and interviewers were friendly. The office environment was pleasant. One area for improvement is scheduling interviews. Instead of just sending confirmed time slots, it would be better to ask for candidate availability beforehand. Another suggestion is regarding the take-home test, which simulated a real scenario. Consider compensating candidates for their ideas or offering feedback upon request, as these projects require significant time, energy, and experience, and rejection without feedback can be a difficult cycle for job seekers.
- What would a past manager say about you?
Customer Service Representative
So, for LCBO, it's usually a few steps. First, you gotta apply online. Then, there's a quick phone chat to see if you're basically qualified and if you're actually interested. If that goes well, they might bring you in for an interview, either in person or online, with a manager or maybe a few people. They'll ask stuff about how you deal with customers, if you can solve problems, and what you know about LCBO's stuff. Some jobs might even have you do a pretend customer situation. It's all about seeing if you're good with people and if you fit in with how LCBO likes to treat customers.
- Tell me about your availability and any customer experience you have.
- How available are you and do you have previous customer experience?
Cashier
The interview process involved discussing customer service abilities, cash handling procedures, managing challenging customer interactions, and understanding responsible alcohol sales regulations. They also inquired about my prior work history and my motivation for seeking employment at the LCBO.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a challenge?
- What relevant prior work experience do you have?
- What makes you interested in joining the LCBO?
