First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lazard.
Analyst
For an analyst position, the interview usually involves multiple steps to evaluate your technical abilities, how you approach problems, your understanding of the market, and how you interact with others. The exact process can differ between companies, but generally, you can expect something like this, with details for each stage specifically for an analyst job.
- What is a distinctive skill you possess that differentiates you?
Analyst
Il y a plusieurs rounds mais aucun test de logique ou d'anglais. Un premier round RH. Un deuxième round avec 3-4 personnes de analyst à Director. Un éventuel troisième round avec l'associé qui se terminera avec une RH ensuite.
- Could you walk me through the WACC calculation?
- Can you explain the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) method?
- The focus is on international accounting, not French accounting. Can you elaborate?
Analyst
I came through the spring week, which selected students based on an online application and a telephone interview with HR. At the end of the spring week, there was an assessment centre which requires you to summarise some financial information quickly and succinctly, and a group discussion which requires you as group to discuss a case study. After that, you get interviewed by three groups of 2 people (a mix of managing directors and VPs, then finally the COO). One interview is broadly fit-based, the other cognitive (a bit like a management consulting case study interview) and the final one financial (testing some technicals but more to gauge your interest than to see whether you can make a DCF model).
- What's the most recent book you've finished?
- Tell me about a time you faced adversity.
- Imagine you're opening a shop on Stratton Street; what product would you sell for maximum profit?
