Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lazard Asset Management.
Intern
The interview process involved a 'Super day' which included three distinct parts: one behavioral interview, one technical interview focusing on a mathematical puzzle, and one case interview that required understanding core valuation techniques.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Lazard?
Intern
I had a lot of technical interviews. They asked me about my background from my CV, some analytical questions, and about my competencies. They also asked about particular deals and times I used skills needed for the role. The interviewer was very friendly, but the interview was difficult.
- Can you describe a recent deal you were involved in?
Intern
So the interview process was kinda long. I had like 4-5 one-on-one interviews back in January 2010, and then another 4-5 one-on-ones in March 2010. They finally gave me an offer way late in May 2010. The interviews were with HR, VPs, MDs, and Associates. The first set of interviews were mostly with senior people from different departments, and the second set were mostly with Associates who I would have worked with. The interviews were all about competencies because I was applying for a marketing role. The people were really nice though, so it felt more like a chat than an interrogation.
- Can you share an instance where you collaborated with a team?
- What was the reason for pursuing your major X at Y university?
- Could you introduce yourself?
