LaunchSquad Account Management Associate Interview Questions
& Process

I applied online and a recruiter from Launchsquad contacted me quickly for a call. The first call was over an hour long, with general questions about my college and current job experience. Then, I had to complete a writing test where I wrote a fictional press release based on a prompt. After that, I had a second interview. The interviewer was an hour late, and the interview itself went over an hour. The questions were similar to the first interview, but with more focus on PR fit and potential challenges. A third interview followed, which was also about an hour and similar to the first two, with another late interviewer. I followed up three times after these interviews but never heard back from Launchsquad.

I was contacted by the Head of Talent in SF for a phone interview. She was very polite and friendly, but really only focused on asking me questions about my education. There was so much more I would have liked to talk about. She then said she would get back to me within the week. I wasn't sure if it would be for a follow up interview or not, but after three weeks of no follow up, it was just unprofessional. If a company takes the time to have a lengthy first round interview with you, I think they should at least have the decency to follow up to say they are looking at other candidates for the moment.

I found the Account Associate role on Jobvite and heard back from the HR person in the NY office within two days. She was super professional via email and set up a phone screening for a few days later. The phone screening was mostly about my college experiences and the skills I've picked up. After that, they sent me a take-home assignment: write a press release. They only gave a one-sentence prompt and no other info, so I had to come up with the whole concept and content myself. I guess it's good to brainstorm something cool beforehand! Writing is pretty easy for me, so it wasn't too tough, but the one-hour time limit flies by. Make sure to run spellcheck! A few days later, I went in for an onsite interview with one of the VPs. He was really nice and I felt like it went well. I learned a lot about how media relations, digital marketing, and content creation all work together in this industry, and he shared some awesome examples of past campaigns. The questions weren't really 'out there,' but you should be ready to chat about your skills and how they can help LaunchSquad. About a week and a half after that, they let me know they were going with other candidates because the position is super competitive. I got it, especially since I didn't have a ton of experience in media relations or digital media right out of college. I was happy to get that far, though! This interview actually helped me a lot; I'm now employed at a startup and feel like the LaunchSquad interview was great practice. I'm still really interested in the company, so I might even apply for a different role later once I have more experience!
