First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Latham & Watkins.
Lawyer
The whole first interview and waiting for the result took ages, like three months. There were two interviews total. One interview I had was with people in two different timezones. One person rescheduled our interview after we agreed on a time, but then they were super late, like half an hour late. Another person, who was working from home, just vanished for like 10 minutes during our 30-minute chat. The lack of professionalism and respect was obvious. HR was friendly and quick to set up the interview times, but after the interviews, they just stopped responding.
- Describe a time you faced pressure from management to accept a decision you didn't agree with, and how you handled it.
Attorney
I applied online and got a rejection email the next day. A month later, I got a video interview request. I decided to do it this time, even though I had issues with the Hirevue platform loading on three different devices. The interview had about five to seven canned questions that could have been answered by my resume or a short HR screening. Three weeks later, I got another form rejection email. Looking at who they hired, their credentials were much lower than mine.
- Can you share something unexpected about yourself?
Attorney
You'll spend a whole day talking with various associates and partners, including a lunch break. It's pretty standard for law firm interviews. They'll generally give you their feedback at the end. Make sure you're ready to say the same things to everyone you meet and keep a positive attitude.
- What area of law interests you?
- What's your reason for wanting to work in this specific office?
- What are your reasons for choosing this particular town?
