Technical Coding Behavioral

I met some recruiters on campus and was asked two quick technical questions: one about coding to find the sum of prime numbers, and another about how to test a water glass. Then, I was supposed to have an on-site interview, but since I was out of town, it got moved to an online video call instead. I spoke with a few engineers from the test team who went over my background and asked me some technical questions. About a week later, I got an email saying I didn't get the job.

  • Can you test an online calculator application?
  • Describe an algorithm to find clusters of nodes in a grid.

Technical Coding Behavioral Case

The interview process had three parts in total. First, an HR phone chat from Long Beach, USA. Second, a take-home test that had two parts: a coding challenge and a problem-solving exercise. Lastly, an onsite interview which included behavioral questions, a coding challenge, and a problem-solving challenge.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • For the coding challenge, the task was to find the index of the first number matching a target number, as well as the count of eligible numbers.
  • For the coding challenge, I was asked to provide the sum of all prime numbers less than or equal to a given number.
  • For the problem-solving part, the scenario was 25 horses that race in groups of 5, where only the rank is known, not the exact time. The goal was to determine the minimum number of races required to identify the top 3 fastest horses out of the 25.

Technical Coding Other

I applied online and a recruiter from Long Beach contacted me the same day, wanting to interview that week. We had a slight miscommunication about the day, but it was easily rescheduled. The initial phone screen covered my resume and experience, followed by a few basic technical questions like polymorphism, insertion runtime in vectors/LLs, and stack vs. queue. No behavioral questions were asked. After that, I received a coding assignment and an analytical/design assignment. I got an extension to submit them on Friday. The coding assignment was a bit unclear, with only two comments explaining the expected function behavior. Email was used for any clarifications, which was slow, and the assignments could be done in Java or C++. I was rejected 8 days after submitting the assignments via an automated email.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The assignment involved a "Stamp Dispenser" problem where you had to implement functions to initialize the dispenser and dispense stamps.
  • Given a scenario about an automobile manufacturing company's defect issue and interview transcripts, identify the problem statement, possible causes, provide reasoning, and confirm the true cause.
