First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Larsen & Toubro.
Structural Engineer
So I had an interview scheduled for 11 AM, but they ended up running late and called me closer to 12:30 PM. It was a quick 20-minute chat. They started off with the usual 'Tell me about yourself.' Then, they had me pick a subject to talk about. After that, it got technical. They asked things like 'What's a deep beam?' and 'What forces act on a structure?' Also, some codebook questions since I do steel structures – they asked which codebook I use. These were basic but important, and I felt good about my answers. The other interviewer then asked more technical stuff like 'What's a pile foundation?' and 'What is self-compacting concrete?' Near the end, they gave me a minute to present on a topic, which was nuclear power plants for me. I basically gave a quick rundown of what they are, why they matter, and their role in generating power. Overall, I think it went well, covering both my technical knowledge and how I communicate. Just waiting on their feedback now.
- Can you tell me about pile foundations?
- What is a deep beam?
- What are some questions regarding codebooks?
Civil Engineer
So they started by asking about my family background, and then they moved on to my branch. They asked me two questions each, about a subject I picked. It seems someone messed up by mentioning a subject they didn't really know about, because the interviewers were pretty open-ended at first, saying we had to tell them the subjects we studied. Finally, they gave us an extempore topic, like 'smart city' and stuff.
- Could you define the different types of rocks?
- If you were offered 100m of land, what would be your initial steps?
- Can you define surveying?
Structural Engineer
So after they check your CV, the HR will give you a call for a telephonic round, which is about 15 to 30 minutes long. If you clear that, they'll send you for a medical checkup and then do a background verification. Once you clear all these steps, you'll get the employment.
- Can you walk me through your past projects?
- What makes you want to join L&T?
- What are you looking for in this position?
