Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LANXESS.
Management
The interview process had two rounds. The first round was a bit technical and included normal career questions. They really wanted to know about your commitment to the company. This round lasted about 40 minutes. The second round was with HR and was a bit shorter, lasting around 20-30 minutes, and covered basic HR questions like strengths and weaknesses. Overall, it was a really good experience.
- Why should we consider you for this role?
- How do your skills align with what our company needs?
- What makes you committed to us?
Technical Manager
It started with a head-hunter calling me to see if I was interested. After that, I had a 1:1 meeting with the hiring manager that lasted about 90 minutes. We talked about work and how much travel would be involved. Then, I interviewed with the hiring manager's boss and the HR manager.
- Is it anticipated that you might move into a sales role at some point in the future?
Management Trainee
There are 2 rounds of interviews. The first round is a one-hour Webex with the department and HR, where the department and the trainee program are introduced, and your CV is briefly reviewed. Afterwards, typical HR questions are asked, as well as some tricky technical questions. The second round is in person with HR and the department heads of various target areas. In advance, you need to prepare a self-presentation in English and a presentation on a case study in German, which you will present on-site. Questions will be asked about each presentation. The total duration is 1.5 hours. After 2 weeks, you will receive feedback on whether you get the trainee position or not.
- Are analytical and strategic tasks appealing to you?
- Can you handle routine tasks in addition to project work?
