Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services.
Construction Intern
I applied for the construction co-op/intern role through Handshake, which then redirected me to the company's website. After applying, I heard back from them and went through two rounds of interviews. Things seemed really positive, but then the recruitment team went quiet for about a month. Eventually, they reached out to let me know they'd chosen another candidate. The interviews were mostly just talking.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
- What are your career aspirations for the next 5 years?
- Can you describe your previous work experiences?
Intern
So the whole interview thing took about a month. It kicked off with a phone interview, and then about two weeks after that, I had an in-person interview. Both went pretty smoothly, and the people I met were really professional and nice. I talked to two different people. The HR department was a little slow to respond at first, and it took some back and forth to get the in-person interview time and date locked in.
- Can you go over your resume with me?
- What experience do you have?
- What's your motivation for wanting to join our company?
Intern
I'm not sure if this was the actual interview. It felt more like a screening with the recruitment coordinator. There are supposed to be more steps, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I didn't talk to any engineers, supervisors, or HR managers. I'm hoping to get to the next stage soon. This screening process is taking longer than I thought.
- What's your current GPA?
- What software are you proficient in?
- Are you currently a junior or a senior?
