We met at Starbucks in the landside area of Glasgow Airport. Vanessa, the Store Manager, was friendly and easy to talk to, which helped ease my nerves. The questions were pretty basic but also specific to working in an airport environment.

I applied online via Lagardère Travel retail's website. The next day, I got a very quick phone call with a question in English and a date for a recruitment session. The session had three parts: first, a presentation of the company and the essential qualities for employees. Then, a role-playing exercise in pairs simulating a sales experience, where we alternated between playing the customer and the advisor. Those selected were invited for a one-on-one interview with classic questions, including at least one in English (as was the case for me). Candidates not selected also had an interview with the recruiter, who explained individually why they weren't moving forward. If you're thinking of applying, remember to smile; some people weren't hired for not smiling.

The day is split into two parts. In the morning, we're separated into small groups and given a short written English test (if selected, there will be a discussion in English). Then, we do a sales role-play. In the afternoon, they split us into two groups: those selected for an individual interview and those who aren't.
