First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lagardère Travel Retail.
HR Executive
the interview was essentially one face-to-face meeting. the HR director was quite rude, interrupting me mid-answer and asking things I'd already covered. she spent a lot of time talking about her 20 years in hospitality, repeating it multiple times. when I asked about the transition from hospitality to F&B/travel retail and the company's challenges, she dismissed it as 'not relevant.' she also refused to give feedback at the end, saying she had 'more important things to do.' strangely, two months later, she contacted me again about exploring a role, seemingly forgetting the previous interaction and her attitude.
- Can you tell me about your knowledge of Lagardere?
Merchandiser
The recruitment process kicked off with a call from HR to set up an initial meeting. This was followed by a video call interview, which was a great chance to really get the job's challenges and my background. The HR person was supportive and listened well, making it a comfortable chat with no tricky questions. The next step was supposed to be meeting the manager, but I never heard back after that. Overall, it was a good experience even though there was no follow-up.
- What is your understanding of the position?
Internship
I had a really good experience during this interview thanks to the HR team's availability, they were always nice and professional. They made me feel comfortable from the start, accommodating my needs and creating a calm and respectful atmosphere. It was a positive experience and a great example of how an interview can be both structured and welcoming at the same time.
- Why do you want to intern here?
Marketing Manager
Applied on Linkedin, had an HR screening, then a Line-Manager interview via Zoom, followed by a F2F interview in a coffeeshop that lasted 4.5 hours. The F2F was a group interview with 4 candidates meeting directors, held at a DXB airport coffeeshop to save costs. Didn't even get a drink in 4 hours, probably to save more. Had to do a juvenile task there. Felt like a typical UAE company setup with Western/Arab senior management and Asian mid-management/executives.
- So tell me, how much salaries are you wantings?
