Store Manager
They use the STAR method. You need to discuss the specific situation, task, action, and result of the situation you are describing. You can also expect to participate in a Case type role play.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to meet a specific objective? What was the objective? How did you go about it? What was the outcome? What did you learn from it?
Store Manager
I had a 15 minute screen with the HR manager first. Then I was invited in for an in person interview with the HR manager and the district manager. They interviewed me together for over 2 hours in the store. It was a really relaxed vibe. The HR manager asked more standard corporate questions, but nothing too out there. The district manager seemed more focused on my personality. They didn't ask me to sell a pen or do the typical "tell me about a difficult customer" or "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" questions. We had a good time and laughed a lot. They had about 3 other interviews scheduled after me, with one person waiting where I could see them.
- What are your strategies for motivating sales associates who are not compensated with commission?
Store Manager
It was a really thorough interview process, focusing heavily on business knowledge. They wanted to know about key metrics, performance goals, and development opportunities. Basically, how your skills could contribute to business growth.
- What specific performance metrics at the Naperville location require improvement?
- In what ways can your existing or acquired skills contribute to the expansion of the business?
