First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at La Quinta.
General Manager
I interviewed for a General Manager position at a property that was undergoing a transition from Holiday Inn Express to La Quinta. The interview was pretty standard, focusing on my previous experience and qualifications. Since it's a management role, several people interviewed me over time, though some of them have since moved on to other opportunities.
- Would you be okay with firing employees?
- If a background check was performed, would there be anything problematic?
- Are you capable of adhering to a budget?
General Manager
The hiring process felt a bit drawn out and perhaps more than necessary. I first spoke with a recruiter, then another recruiter, followed by an interview with a manager and finally the hiring manager. This took several weeks. I believe I was supposed to follow up or complete an action item, but I never got around to it. It was quite a lengthy experience, and they all seemed to ask the very same questions.
- Can you tell me about your most significant professional accomplishment?
General Manager
The interview process went great. Had a great conversation with the recruiter. She told me everything that the company had to offer and what the job entailed. I briefed her on what I did and the things that I had done in my career up to this point and we seemed to really hit it off.
- What actions would you take in the role of General Manager?
