Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at La Madeleine.
Cashier
The interview process was pretty straightforward with easy questions, focusing on teamwork and a couple of situational questions. If you've done interviews before, you should be good. Just be yourself and show some enthusiasm.
- Can you share an instance where you collaborated with a team to address a problem?
Cook
Right after I applied, I got an automatic message to set up an interview time. I got to the restaurant a bit early, and let someone know I was there. About 20 minutes after my scheduled time, a manager came over and gave me a paper application to fill out, saying he'd be back in 15 minutes. While I was filling it out, he stood nearby and made small talk. He finally sat down to interview me 25 minutes past my appointment time. The questions were standard, and it went pretty well. He mentioned a second interview with the general manager and then left for another 5-10 minutes. The general manager then came over, looking tired, and told me about the job and the pay. She said to call her in the next two days if I wanted to proceed. The whole thing took about an hour.
- What is your tenure at your present employment?
Cashier
The interview process involved three rounds: the first was in person, and the next two were conducted over the phone. The whole thing took just over a week and was quite straightforward. Both store managers interviewed me in the first two rounds, and the owner handled the last one. Everyone was pretty relaxed and the whole thing felt very casual.
- What makes you want to join our company?
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
