Store Manager
The hiring process involves interviews with the District Manager (DM), Regional Manager (RM), and HR. It can be a bit of a long haul and at times, a drag. Some of these chats happen in person, while others are over the phone. Typically, the RM and HR interviews are conducted via phone. They tend to stick to pretty standard questions. If you've got a background in retail management, you'll probably find the questions quite familiar. A big part of their questioning focuses on how comfortable you are with training and recruiting new team members.
- Are there any specific questions that caught you off guard?
- How did the interview process vary between the interviewers?
Store Manager
I went through 4-5 interviews for the Store Manager position. It took a really long time to get any response from them. I had to do three phone interviews, then a Skype interview, and finally, I had to drive to Houston, TX to interview with a District Manager in person. It felt like a really long and drawn-out process for a store manager role, but it was worth it in the end because I got the job and I'm still with the company and really enjoying it.
- Tell me about general retail questions.
Store Manager
The recruiter gave me a call and we set up a time to talk with the area manager. Then I had an in-person meeting with the area manager where they asked me common questions about how I handle different situations, like dealing with customers who are upset, or managing employees who are difficult, and so on. It was pretty standard.
- Can you sell me this pen?
- I was handed an ink pen and asked to sell it to the interviewer.
- Tell me about how you handle upset customers.
