Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at L.L. Bean.
Sales Representative
It was a group interview with really basic questions. They either hired you right away or said no. There's not much else to tell, the questions were easy and the managers were nice. They wanted to see if you could add something new to the conversation, not just repeat what others said. If you repeated someone, it made it seem like you didn't have your own thoughts.
- Tell me something simple.
Sales Representative
I applied for a seasonal position and about a week later, I was called to schedule an interview for the very next day. It was an evening interview, which was unexpected. The interview had about three candidates and two interviewers. We all took turns introducing ourselves, answering questions, and then selling the interviewers an item from their store. I think the whole process took about two weeks. Based on other interviews I read, they always ask you to demonstrate how you would sell a certain item. I suggest reading up on some of their signature items in their About Us on their website. I feel like that may have gave me a little advantage because I knew about the tote before hand. Overall, it was a pleasant experience....the interviewers seemed very friendly and nice. The whole culture of this company just feels very welcoming and organized.
- Introduce yourself.
- Sell the interviewers an item from their store.
- Demonstrate how you would sell a certain item.
Sales Representative
I got an email from L.L.Bean to call and schedule an interview. I called them and set it up for a few days later. They mentioned it would be a group interview and I got an email confirming it. First, we had a group meeting where we introduced ourselves and said why we are a good fit. Then, as a group, we talked about different customer scenarios. We also had to pick an L.L.Bean product at random and try to sell it to someone in the group. After that, I met with the managers one-on-one to talk about the job and schedule, and they offered me the job right then and there.
- We had to choose a random product and sell it to another group member.
