First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kuehne+Nagel.
Software Engineer
The process had two stages. First, an interview with HR in Germany, which was complicated and time-consuming because they missed the first scheduled interview. I had to contact them to reschedule. The second interview was with members of the Porto team. This interview was straightforward and aimed to assess my knowledge in the specific area. The interactions with the Porto HR and developers were much smoother than with the German team.

The recruiter was super nice and gave me lots of info. They got back to me fast with feedback. The interview steps were: 1. HR chat 2. First tech and design chat with the hiring manager 3. A week-long case study 4. Final tech chat with the team to go over the code I wrote 5. Feedback/Offer. Everything went smoothly and was clear. After the last interview, I got negative feedback saying I wasn't picked. I asked why and was told my front-end and docker skills weren't good enough for the job. This was surprising since the job description didn't mention it, so I didn't put it on my resume. It was even more shocking because I used docker-compose for the project and they still said I lacked Docker knowledge. It's okay to reject me, but after all the time and effort I put in, that feedback was a letdown. I'll definitely think twice before applying again.

So, the process begins with an HR screening call. After that, they send over a technical task. If you manage to pass that task, you'll proceed to some tech interviews, and then they'll extend an offer. However, the task part is always a bit of a mystery; they take like two weeks to review it and then just reject you. It's honestly pretty rough for candidates to invest so much time into a task only to get a straightforward rejection in the end. I've seen this happen with quite a few companies, and it really just feels like a huge waste of time for the individual.
