I had an initial chat with the recruiter. It seemed to go fine, but the hiring manager didn't want to proceed. My take is that talking to recruiters first, without any prior connections or a word with the hiring manager, usually doesn't work out.

I was initially contacted by Talent Acquisition HR. They asked me to review the job description and apply for the Brand Manager, Communications role. They also asked for my availability to schedule a meeting to discuss the role. I did the online application, which included a question about compensation level. I didn't hear back from HR and sent several requests for status updates. Without any response, five days later, I got an automated message saying they were proceeding with other candidates. No explanation, no personalization, no further interaction or response. It was really disappointing how I was treated during the job search.

Behavioral Technical Case

Recruiter reached out about marketing roles (brand management/other) at Heinz. Had a 30-min phone screen, then a 1st onsite with HR Manager and Marketing Dept person (30 mins each). Followed by a 2nd and final onsite with 3 Executives (45 mins each). The interview process was well-organized, and Heinz employees were professional and approachable. The interview felt easy. They prioritize finding someone who is a culture fit, looking for an ownership/entrepreneurial attitude and skills. This means showing confidence that you'll treat your brand like your own business and are willing to work extra hours (60+ hrs/week) if needed. It seemed like they have a quick decision process - if you perform well, you get more responsibilities, otherwise, you're out. They let me know about my rejection politely. Despite negative reviews online, I have a positive view of Heinz and its employees after the interview. Hope this helps and Good Luck!
