So there were 4 rounds total. First, a quick chat with a recruiter. Then, a technical interview which was the main challenge, involving some system design overview questions, a code review where I could pick a language like Java or Python, and a whiteboard coding problem. After that, I had a take-home assessment, mostly front-end stuff with React/vanilla JS. The final round was with the CTO, focusing on culture fit.

It was a behavioral interview, pretty easy, and took place in person with white boarding. We talked about my resume, and then there was a system design question about chess, an easy LeetCode question, and a JavaScript code reading question. Overall, it wasn't a bad interview experience. They even gave us a tour of the office afterward.

The interview process at Konrad seemed promising initially, with everyone being friendly and giving the impression of a good company. However, over the course of two months, it became apparent that this was a facade. While the disorganization and lengthy timeline are noted, the main issue was the dishonest rejection. After starting each stage with talk of rapid expansion, the final rejection came with a reason of 'hiring capacity reached.' Despite seeking feedback on my interview approach, question-solving, and communication from HR, team members, and the manager, I only received positive reinforcement like 'you will definitely be hearing back from us,' 'we were not talking much since you covered everything thoroughly,' and 'we really like you and your work.' The only negative feedback was about providing too much detail for a design question. It's frustrating to go through the final stages only to be told they 'reached hiring capacity,' which feels like a white lie instead of the truth, like 'we went forward with another candidate.' Perhaps it was a budget issue or an attempt to be gentle. Ironically, they posted an internship position the same day I was rejected. When I inquired about it, given I'm a student, they rejected me again, stating they were looking for students returning to school after their term, which seemed nonsensical. The process involved a 30-minute phone interview, a 3-hour react email application, 1.5 hours of technical whiteboard questions, a 30-minute meeting with the manager, and submitting unofficial transcripts and references. The questions asked were a mix of previously posted ones.
