Had a behavioral screening first, then a technical screen, and then an onsite interview. They let me know I didn't get the job in the end. The technical screens tested my knowledge of SQL and Python. The whole process was pretty easy and they worked with me on scheduling.

The interview process at Komodo was extremely lengthy and, unfortunately, did not go as well as I had hoped, despite my thorough preparation. While they have a promising idea and product, the interview itself was not a positive experience for me. It kicked off with an HR screening, followed by a technical screening focused on Python code for demonstrating randomness, which I addressed using Bayesian statistics. Then came an extensive 5-hour behavioral and technical round with various interviewers, including another coding challenge involving text-to-integer conversion and calculations, or anagrams. They also asked analytical questions about my resume and experience. This was followed by a round on entity relationships, then a focus on leadership skills, and finally, a demonstration of the Komodo product.

I only applied to the role, but I reached out to learn about the company from a data scientist. My interaction was so toxic. I reached out with general questions about how data science was used there, tech stack, what excited the person about working there, and for what skills they were looking to hire. The response was, "are you looking for a referral, because the answer is no". I explained that I was genuinely interested because the company is doing interesting work. I was told that I was the problem because of the questions I asked, which to mean seemed like great, thoughtful questions from some genuinely interested in the company. Needless to say, I pulled my application. If this is generally how the company operates, I would encourage people to not waste their time. People should find other companies that are respectful of all people and flattered when people reach out to learn about their work.
