First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kokua.
Substitute Teacher
First, there was a recorded interview where you get about 30 seconds to prep then record your answer. The second interview was over the phone and it included a job offer.
- How do you manage a classroom?
- Describe the first 5-10 minutes of your class when you're subbing.
- What if you're not given any sub plans? What would you do?
Substitute Teacher
After applying, I got a response within about a week. Then, I had a brief 30-minute chat with someone from the hiring team. I heard back the next day. If everything checks out, you'll need to do a background check, fingerprints, and that sort of thing.
- Can you tell me about your classroom experience?
Substitute Teacher
The interview was conducted over Zoom. They asked me why I wanted to sub, when I could start, and to describe my experience. They also asked about my availability to work, the grade levels I'm comfortable teaching, and my willingness to travel.
- When are you available to begin working?
- When can you start?
- Tell me about your experience.
