First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kohler Co..
Buyer
The interview process was a bit long but pretty simple. First, I had a phone interview with corporate HR. Then, a video interview with the hiring manager. After that, a behavioral and cognitive assessment that took about 45 minutes. Next, another phone interview with a local HR person. Finally, an on-site interview with the hiring and operations manager. I got the offer the next day. The communication between corporate and local HR could have been better. They asked about my salary expectations in the first interview and said they were reasonable, but the offer was lower than my current salary and they said it was the max they could offer. So, it felt like a waste of time. Also, I found out they only give 10 days of PTO for the first 4 years.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Koehler?
Purchasing Specialist
Recruiter set up a phone interview. The hiring manager asked good questions about my purchasing history and experiences during the call. We finished the interview and he decided to hire me right after that one call. Later, I found out they were looking for someone with a lot of company experience, which led to some awkward meetings with project managers and engineers. The engineers were nice, but the purchasing people were stand-offish and didn't work with me, even though the manager asked me to collaborate with them (two in the faucet npi division). Overall, it was a bad experience because there was no training or direction for a new hire.
- Could you share specific examples from your purchasing background, like creating contracts, conducting negotiations, and issuing purchase orders?
Buyer
It was pretty good, but it can depend on when you apply. Sometimes it takes a while to hear back, but for me, it was very quick. You should always call back because they interview a lot of people. Also, the process to accept people might take longer than expected due to however many projects they have going on.
- Most questions were truly not that hard.
