I applied for a job at Kohler and spent several hours on an old-school personality assessment. Then I interviewed with multiple people. Despite all that, I haven't heard back at all. This feels pretty bad, especially for a company that says they care about management and finding the right people. It’s also interesting that their PTO is only 10 days combined for sick and vacation, even after 5 years. That's way less than most companies, which usually offer unlimited or at least 20 days. It makes you wonder if they expect employees to never take time off.

I sent in my application and cover letter. HR reached out about 4 days later expressing interest. They then asked me to answer some 'pre screening' questions about my personality and interests for their luxury furnishings division. After I submitted those, I didn't hear back from HR for 8 days. I followed up and was told they wanted to set up a phone interview for later that week. The phone interview happened, and some questions were qualitative. I felt the HR person wasn't very knowledgeable about interior design to really get my answers. She just said 'Alright' to everything and wasn't conversational at all. She also asked about my salary expectations, which I preferred to discuss via email. I was also told I'd need to do an hour-long personality test and send over a portfolio. I sent the portfolio and my salary range, and then got a link for the test. But the link had expired when I tried to take it. I then got a brief email from HR saying my salary range was too high and they'd keep my resume for future roles. I replied saying I could negotiate and asked for their numbers, but got no response. The next Monday, I followed up again, hoping we could talk salary, but still no reply. It felt like they should have at least emailed about not negotiating salary, considering the time I put in. This whole experience left a bad impression, and I'm not interested in working there anymore. The job required a graduate degree I'm finishing, but they either can't afford someone at my education level or are instructing HR to find cheap candidates.

Applied and got a call for a phone interview like three months later. Then had a phone interview, then an in-person with 4 people. I also had to do a personality test that took about an hour. Did it at home on my computer. They usually won't hire you if you don't pass the personality test.
