Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Known.
Data Analyst
It was a 2-round interview process. The first round was a phone screen, and the second was a technical round. I was asked some probability brain teasers and two Python coding questions during the technical round. Unfortunately, I wasn't well-prepared for the technical part and didn't pass.
- They asked me two Python questions, one involving Pandas and another that was a Leetcode Medium question.

The whole thing took about 4 weeks, but it might be quicker if the initial technical screen isn't needed. First, there was a 0.5-hour technical screen, then an HR screen, followed by a 1.5-hour technical screen with three team members. The final step was an interview with a Partner. I did well in the first three stages but didn't pass the Partner interview. So, my tip is to really nail your technical skills, but also work on your communication and showing your interest in the role. I messed up on that last part, which stings, but I learned a lot. Known is seeking data scientists who have consulting skills, like dealing with clients and communicating perfectly. Make sure you explain your past experiences clearly, as it shows how well you can communicate. I can't emphasize enough how crucial the last step is; it's actually the easiest to prepare for technically. You just need to get into a communication/consulting mindset, seem approachable, and likable. Overall, it was a good experience. Everyone I met was super friendly. Many have PhDs and came from academia, so they're really down to earth. The technical screen is brief and focused on covering specific questions, which might make the interviewer seem unfriendly, but that's just because they have limited time. It's not personal.
- Can you explain your interest in Known?
- Why are you interested in marketing specifically, compared to other areas?
Data Analyst
I had one screen with a Data Scientist where we talked about logical reasoning, Python, and Data Science. Then I had a screen with HR that was more behavioral. After that, I had 3 screens with Sr members of the Data Science team. They actually sent an email saying they offered the job to someone else and didn't even finish the last round.
- Was asked easy python code questions
- Was asked basic machine learning concepts
- Was asked about projects on resume
