I applied online for an apparel position and heard back in about a week. The first interview was with HR, and it was short, about 10-15 minutes, asking basic questions about my past work. They said they'd call me back soon, and they did the next day for another interview with the store manager that same day. That one was super quick, maybe under 2 minutes. The manager just explained what they expected from me and what I expected from them. I was hired right then and started the following week. I applied for seasonal, but they mentioned they often keep people on permanently for part-time or full-time after the season.

Had a lot of phone calls and then had to show up for an interview. It felt pretty extensive for a job that doesn't pay much. They asked general questions, about teamwork, and what you'd do under pressure. You really have to sell yourself to them. There aren't any raises unless you get promoted, and even if they raise the pay for your job, they don't match your pay; you'll be stuck at the hiring pay.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Describe a time you exceeded expectations in a previous job.
  • What makes you the best candidate for this position?
  • How would you convince a customer to purchase a protection plan?

I applied online on Kmart's career site and filled out the application. At the end, I was prompted to schedule an interview, which was about two and a half weeks away. I went in for the interview, and had to wait about 10 minutes because the manager was finishing with the previous candidate. She asked me about 5-7 questions, which weren't too difficult, but I had to respond quickly. After the interview, she told me to come back for a second interview and the training program.
