Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Klein Tools.
Mechanical Engineer
The interview process involved a screening interview, followed by an interview with a Product Manager, then team in-person interviews, and a follow-up interview. I received an initial offer, but when I asked for a pay increase, they rescinded the offer, which was an unusual reaction. I didn't demand a specific amount but provided data from salary calculators and industry advice. If they had kept the original offer, I would have accepted. My advice is to be cautious about how Klein Tools handles offer negotiations and their communication between HR in Texas and the engineering team in IL. Despite this, Klein Tools seems like a great company with friendly and ambitious engineers.

Mechanical Engineer
I had a quick HR chat over the phone that lasted about 20 minutes. Then, an engineer interviewed me for 30 minutes, asking some more technical questions. After that, there was a 3.5-hour interview session where I met with different people every 45 minutes. Finally, I had another 20-minute phone call with someone I'd be working with, where they asked more personal questions to get to know me better.

- Can you walk me through your resume?
- Would there be more quarters in a small room or in the stack next to the empire state building?

I had a phone interview with the recruiter first, then spoke with the hiring manager over the phone. They were both really nice. I didn't get the job, but the hiring manager gave me some tips on how to get better at my skills.
- Can you tell me about your Solidworks experience?
