I applied for a couple of marketing design jobs in July 2021. I'm a senior designer for marketing at another global tech company, so I'm qualified. After 3 months, I got an email for a logic test, which was ridiculous and seemed to require a paid course to prepare for. I studied for a day using free YouTube tutorials on similar visual logic tests and did well on those, but Klarna's test questions were way harder than the examples, and the multiple-choice options were super similar. The test didn't even seem to measure intelligence well. I couldn't see my results, and then heard nothing from Klarna for another 3 months. After 6 months total without speaking to anyone, a recruiter finally emailed in December 2021, interested in my portfolio for a general product designer role, which was unexpected since I didn't apply for it. The interview went well, and the recruiter was professional. I mentioned my issues with the logic test, as I'd have to retake it live if I proceeded. The recruiter said a co-founder really likes the test and they couldn't remove it, even though it wasn't helpful. Two business days later, I was rejected, making it the most confusing hiring process I've experienced. I probably won't apply to Klarna again.

This was a long and in-depth interview process. It was a good opportunity to understand the company's culture and the people you will eventually collaborate with. The whole interview process consisted on: 1) A casual talk with HR to understand my needs/company needs and my current situation 2) A portfolio showcase 3) A logic test 4) A behavioral interview with another design lead 5) A design test/whiteboard session 6) A cultural fit interview. Everyone was very friendly and made me feel comfortable from the beginning!

Technical Presentation

First, I had a recruiter call where we discussed my background. Then, I was given a 15-minute logic test with 18 questions, which I mostly aced. After that, I was invited to an interview, but they made me retake the logic test. I then waited about a month before emailing them for an update, to which they responded with a rejection. Several months later, a different recruiter reached out, sent me the logic test again, and after two weeks, informed me that the hiring process was on hold. I never heard back after that, feeling like my time was wasted.
