First, we look over your application, which includes your CV, cover letter, research statement, and reference letters. We then pick candidates whose research fits well with ours. Next, there's a preliminary chat, either online or by phone, lasting about 30-60 minutes, where we'll talk about your research background and how it matches the lab, and what your career goals are. After that, you'll give a presentation, about 30-45 minutes long, on your Ph.D. research or recent projects, followed by questions to check your expertise and how well you communicate. Then, you'll have more in-depth meetings with the main investigator, lab members, and collaborators. We'll discuss technical skills, project aims, and the lab's culture, and clear up any questions about expectations and duties. Finally, we check with your references and then extend an offer, which will include salary, start date, and project specifics.
