The interview went pretty well. The Director of Nursing was professional and was upfront about the job description and the workload. She answered all my questions about staffing ratios and was open to helping me get my ACLS certification through the company, which is something they normally require before hiring.

It was a casual chat, mostly explaining the program for new grads. No case scenarios were presented. We discussed how new graduates begin in med-surg tele and have the opportunity to advance to ICU or other high-acuity care roles.

I had an interview scheduled with HR for Kindred in Albuquerque. I was expecting three interviewers, but only one showed up. The interview started positively, discussing dress code, start date, and benefits. However, it took a negative turn when the DON asked if anything would come up if she checked my name on the state board of nursing website. I was told I'd hear back in a few days, but two weeks later I received a generic email rejecting me in favor of a recent BSN graduate with less experience. Apparently, the new grad didn't work out either. I'm still unsure why I wasn't a good fit, given my 30 years of experience and BSN. I also noticed the facility consistently advertises RN positions, which I now realize is a major red flag. I've since found employment elsewhere.
