First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at KinderCare Learning Centers.
Assistant Director
I was asked to be there at 6:30pm, but the interview didn't start until 6:35pm. They said they were running late and wanted to combine two interviews. Turns out, it was actually for a teaching position, not the Assistant Director role I applied for. They asked me two questions, then took me on a tour of the facility. During the tour, they asked me two more questions, and then the interview was over. I spoke with the person giving the tour about applying for Assistant Director, and they said, "wow I guess you got a surprise then." Both interviewers were Directors and clearly hadn't communicated with each other. I was never offered a job or even contacted afterward, despite being told I would be. The whole experience felt unprofessional and like a waste of time.
- Can you tell me why you work with children?
- What age groups are you interested in working with?
- What are your pay expectations?
Assistant Director
I found the job on Craigslist and applied via their website. After a few days, I got an email for a phone interview. A week later, I had an in-person interview with the location's Director. After that, I had a final interview with the regional director. They said they'd let me know the next week. I followed up via email a week later, then 4 days after that, then another 4 days after that. 20 days after the third interview, I got a call saying they chose someone else.
- Standard interview questions were asked.
- No major surprises during the interview.
Assistant Director
I scheduled a call on the recruiter's calendar, but she had to cancel last minute and apologized. I rescheduled. Then I had to move it again because my work hours changed that week, and I apologized for the inconvenience. She was really nice about it and let me set up a new time that worked with my new schedule. We finally spoke, and it was a brief chat. Turns out, the job I applied for had already been filled.
- Would you be open to commuting a longer distance from home?
- What is your motivation for seeking this role?
