Behavioral Technical Presentation

I applied online through my university's career services and heard back about an interview. The company held an info session the night before to give us a feel for the company and also introduced us to the two people who would interview us the next day. The interview day started with me meeting the same two people. We had a nice initial chat about the info session, but the interview itself wasn't very engaging. They read questions from a notebook, I answered, and there wasn't much back-and-forth. The interviewers seemed more focused on writing notes than engaging with me, and one interviewer seemed uninterested. They asked typical questions about teamwork, leadership, my interest in engineering, and my interest in KM.

Behavioral Technical

I got referred by a friend for a Senior Software Engineer role. An IT director reached out, and we scheduled an interview. It got rescheduled because of a meeting conflict. After more than a month of no response, I followed up and was told there was a question about my experience in data science. The director then scheduled a phone interview, which went fine with relevant, not-too-difficult questions. Then came a virtual interview with similar questions. A week later, the director asked me for an in-person interview. This included the director, people I'd already spoken with, and some new faces. One interviewer was very negative, while the director seemed pleased. After the interview, I was told to fill out online forms for an offer. One form asked about salary expectations. I put my previous base salary, which was reasonable for a senior role. The next day, they asked if that was base or total compensation. I clarified it was base. A week of silence followed. The director then said the amount was too high for their band and wasn't sure if we could proceed. I said I was flexible and asked about their band. No response was given. The whole process took about 2.5 months, with no offer. I think an initial call and one 2-hour interview would have been enough, and being upfront about salary would have saved time.
