Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kinder Morgan.
Manager
It was a pretty straightforward process, no crazy hard questions designed to trip you up. The focus was on my past experience and leadership style. They asked about how I handle conflict, work with other teams, my wins and losses, and what my salary expectations are. Also covered my interest in the role and the company.
- Can you elaborate on your experience?
- Tell me about some challenges you have encountered.
- What are your key skills?
Manager
I applied and got an email about a week later asking for an interview. I scheduled it for the following week and then got a rejection email about 2 days after that. The interview itself was good, they were upfront about what they needed and the role. My only issue was that the job posting wasn't quite accurate to what they discussed. At one point, the director asked if time travel was a requirement and the manager confirmed it was, which wasn't the case. I didn't perform as well as I could have, but I appreciated how thorough they were.
- What are some standard technical questions you would ask?
Manager-In-Training
It was a panel interview, with HR and two terminal managers there. They had already looked at my resume a lot, so we talked about stuff that wasn't on it. I used the STAR method to talk about my success stories.
- Can you tell us about yourself?
- What makes you interested in operations?
- What is your understanding of KM?
