So first I had this remote interview over Teams with the hiring manager and one of their peers. Then after that, I went in person to meet with the hiring manager, their boss, and the rest of the team.

After I applied, they told me I was a good fit even though the role was actually for a more senior engineer, which wasn't mentioned in the job posting. When I showed up, I felt like I was judged pretty harshly. I wish they hadn't led me on for a position I clearly wasn't qualified for.

I talked with two engineers and the head recruiter for this gig. They seemed pretty cool. Mostly they asked me stuff about how I deal with people and problems. That info session they had? Almost nobody went, but you should totally go if you get the chance, it's good for talking to them one-on-one. Just keep smiling and don't freak out during the interview. I didn't think I bombed it, but the drilling engineer started cracking up at something I said, and that's when I knew it was over. Still not sure what I said. My classmate got the job. Maybe it's for the best, the company sounded nice though. They took ages to get back to everyone, even the people they didn't pick. Took me two months to hear back, wish they'd just sent a quick rejection sooner.
