First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kinder Morgan.
EHS Specialist
I was interviewed by a panel of five people. The questions were fair and extensive and lasted just over an hour. The panel was made up of an Operations Manager, an HR representative, and three EHS staff with different levels of experience. After I got the job offer, I met the Terminal Manager.
- What sparked your interest in this position?
EHS Manager
I had a phone call with the hiring manager, then a SKYPE interview with the hiring manager, the departing manager, HR, and an unidentified person. After that, I had a face-to-face meeting with the VP. The meeting with the VP was disappointing because they were unprepared and 45 minutes late, which left less than 15 minutes for our discussion before they had to leave for another meeting. They spent over $800 on a plane ticket for this wasted opportunity.
- What are your strategies for encouraging operations to adopt environmental practices?
EHS Specialist
It was like a firing line! There were 5 people, and one of them was an observer. It's unclear why that person had to be there. They seemed really eager to find someone to replace the person they had overworked three times. This felt like a desperate move.
- Were there any questions outside of the ordinary?
- Did they follow a script?
- Do they not know how to talk to people, or not hire?
