Software Engineer
It was a typical first round, the interviewer was very chill and nice. The situation around the question was more than just a LeetCode problem, it involved string parsing and runtime questions too. They encouraged me and pointed me in the right direction.
- Could you parse a string without using advanced libraries, and what would be the runtime complexity and real-world edge cases for this task?
Software Engineer
So my interview process began really well, the recruiter chat was easy and the first technical parts were pretty good. But the last technical interview, not so much. I started by asking questions to make sure I got the coding problem right. Then it got a bit weird because they didn't seem to like how I was trying to solve it. I suggested using a ListNode with a dictionary for the LRU Cache and even an ordered dictionary, but they just brushed off my ideas without really talking about it or working with me. I tried to switch to just using a dictionary but they said the interview was ending early because we weren't making progress. It just felt like it ended weirdly and wasn't the supportive senior-level vibe I was expecting.
- The earlier stages had LeetCode-style problems that were medium to hard, which were appropriate for the job.
- The final interview could have been more collaborative and focused on finding a solution.
Software Engineer
So the process was pretty simple. First, I had a call with a recruiter. Then, there was a 1-hour online coding test. After that, I did a virtual onsite which had 3 parts: a regular coding round, a task where I had to build a frontend web app, and then a chat with the CTO. They never got back to me after the onsite.
- Write code to parse a JSON object.
- How would you manipulate strings programmatically?
- Tasked with creating a web app from the ground up.
