First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kikoff.
Product Operations Associate
The behavioral parts were pretty straightforward, easy to BS through past experiences. The technical case, though, was tough. A data scientist from another team presented an AB test case that seemed like a real experiment they'd actually done, not just something made up, the quality was seriously impressive. You had to go through each metric and explain what it meant. The interviewer really made me take my time and think through the numbers multiple times. I couldn't use my usual consulting framework because it felt like a real business case with real data. The interviewer was a bit direct, which caught me off guard initially. But, when I was clearly heading in the wrong direction, he didn't just move on; he asked something that made me pause and reconsider. Honestly, I didn't appreciate it at the time and thought I'd bombed it, I was pretty annoyed with myself. But I kept thinking about it, and a part of me really wanted to work with someone like that – you can tell when someone truly knows their stuff. He also mentioned the company's bottom-up approach and encouraged using Claude code, which made me even more excited about joining. Definitely study the prep package they send. Brush up on p-values and statistical significance. Don't try to fake your way through the numbers.
- Which metric caught your eye and what's your reasoning?
- Can you explain the significance of each metric within the provided AB test scenario?
Marketing Associate
It was a 3 round process. The first round was mostly behavioral questions and included a short market sizing question with some follow-ups. The second round was a 45-minute interview, with the first 10 minutes covering behavioral questions and the remaining 30 minutes focused on a marketing case study. The third round was a bit challenging. I talked with the firm's executives about my background, fit, past experiences, and what I'm interested in and passionate about for the future.
- Can you explain your motivation for wanting to join Kikoff?
- What makes you interested in this specific position?
- Could you elaborate on why you didn't pursue a role in X industry?
Product Operations Associate
The screening round went fine, and I heard back two days later saying I advanced. I scheduled the next interview for a week and a half out because I had other things going on and wanted to prep. But then, just three hours before it was supposed to happen, I got an automated email saying they'd re-reviewed my application and decided not to move forward, and the interview was canceled. It was a joke of a process. This company clearly needs to sort out its internal coordination. They should align on team expectations first before wasting candidates' valuable time. It left a really bad impression, and I'll never work there. Seriously, save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere.
- Can you describe your experience at Company A?
- What were your responsibilities at Company B?
Software Engineer
So my interview process began really well, the recruiter chat was easy and the first technical parts were pretty good. But the last technical interview, not so much. I started by asking questions to make sure I got the coding problem right. Then it got a bit weird because they didn't seem to like how I was trying to solve it. I suggested using a ListNode with a dictionary for the LRU Cache and even an ordered dictionary, but they just brushed off my ideas without really talking about it or working with me. I tried to switch to just using a dictionary but they said the interview was ending early because we weren't making progress. It just felt like it ended weirdly and wasn't the supportive senior-level vibe I was expecting.
- The earlier stages had LeetCode-style problems that were medium to hard, which were appropriate for the job.
- The final interview could have been more collaborative and focused on finding a solution.
