First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kier Group.
Quantity Surveyor
It was a really professional and thorough interview process. Started with a chat with the Managing Surveyor, then I had an interview with the Commercial Manager. Near the end, we covered a bunch of KPI questions focused on Kier's core values, like equality and diversity, health and safety, and professional conduct.
- In your capacity as commercial lead, how would you oversee health and safety on a project?
- How would you manage health and safety as the commercial lead on a project?
Quantity Surveyor
I applied online and got invited to do a video interview. It was simple competency questions and questions about myself and the company. It took about 20 minutes. About 3 weeks later, I was invited to the assessment day. It was really fun, about 12 people were there, and they had a rotation system. The individual interview was relaxed and lasted about 50 minutes, and we got to talk to current grads. We had a group activity in the afternoon, and at the end, we did a presentation we prepared that day. We presented to about 2 people about how we embody the company's values. They were friendly and wanted honesty; if you don't know an answer, just say so.
- In what ways do you reflect our company values?
- What motivates your interest in becoming a Quantity Surveyor?
- What draws you to Kier specifically?
Civil Engineer
It was a relaxed interview, lasting about an hour. There were no technical questions. Instead, two managers led a group discussion with five participants about current challenges in the construction sector. We also had a group task involving a 5-minute presentation on Kier's values. A mathematical problem-solving test was included, and I got to meet other graduates.
- Could you start by telling us about yourself?
- What is it about Kier that attracts you?
- Can you discuss your strengths and weaknesses?
