First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Keysight Technologies.
Software Engineer Intern
The first interview was more of a screening, covering resume and job experience questions, asking about your role, and an introduction. It also touched on data structures, basic C++ concepts, stack vs heap, and the pros and cons of different data structures. The second interview is TBD but will be a coding interview.
- Can you explain the difference between the stack and the heap?
Software Engineer
The interview was about an hour long and split evenly between behavioral and technical topics. Overall, the questions weren't overly challenging, but I've marked the difficulty as 'difficult' because they presented a graph and asked for my approach to programming its cutoff frequency calculation. While I didn't have to write the code, the expectation was to explain my thought process. They also inquired about fundamental computer science concepts.
- Can you list the four main principles of computer science?
- Describe your approach to writing a program that determines the cutoff frequency from a graph.
Software Engineer
The recruiter told me to get ready for a tough C++ technical interview. But, they only asked one C++ question and some really fuzzy system design questions, like how to pick a programming language for a new system. They also asked about C#, like how to dereference a pointer in C#. The biggest surprise was a live .net coding test, which I wasn't ready for since I'd studied C++. It felt like the questions weren't actually useful for judging software engineering skills. They even tried to push me towards a different answer on the design questions than the one I thought was best, which was annoying.
- Can you explain what reflection is in the .NET framework?
