Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Keyence.
Sales Engineer
There were three levels in the interview process, and they were conducted sequentially. The first level involved interviewing with another candidate alongside myself. The second level consisted of a paper test that was pretty straightforward, focusing on logic and personality. There was also an interview component to this stage. The third and final test was a role-play interview where I had to present to a higher-level manager from Keyence, which I found out during the process.
- Could you pick a situation and present it as if you were selling something to a group, and then explain how you would overcome any obstacles they raise?
Sales Engineer
I think the interview went well. The questions were pretty simple, mostly about my past experience and my interest in Keyence. The recruiter mentioned she was going to fast-track me and outlined the next steps, including a training start date in Chicago. She made it seem like I was the ideal candidate. The final question involved me pitching a piece of technology nearby, which I nailed. I was really looking forward to the next steps, but then I got a rejection email after the weekend. On the bright side, they didn't ghost me like some other companies.
- Tell me about a challenge you've encountered in your role.
- Please demonstrate your sales skills by selling a piece of technology in the vicinity.
Sales Engineer
The interview process was great, the team was super friendly and not at all intimidating. First up was an online video call, which was pretty straightforward. The second stage involved a cognitive ability test; this one was a bit tougher and you'd probably want to brush up on engineering concepts if you haven't studied them before. Then came a group stage, which was way more chill than I expected. The final stage was definitely the most challenging and intense part of the interviews.
- What makes you interested in a sales role?
- Tell me about a situation where you had to be competitive.
