Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at KeyBank.
Analyst
The first step was a casual 30-minute phone call with a department manager. They asked about my favorite school project, my degree-related classes, and my favorite current course. The manager also shared information about themselves and inquired about my interest in the program and Key. About one to two weeks later, I received an email with a dataset for a case-study project. I had to analyze the data to inform a model and then prepare a 4-6 slide presentation for a panel covering my process, modeling considerations, and final model. The panel asked questions to gauge my knowledge and some clarifying questions. I received a job offer via phone call about one to two weeks after that.
- Can you discuss your current and previous degree courseload?
- What are your interests related to Key?
- Which is your favorite class at the moment?
Summer Analyst
It took a while to hear back, about 4 months after applying. The interviewers were really nice and I enjoyed the conversations and the whole process. There was a phone screening before the first round, which consisted of a behavior and critical thinking section.
- Can you share an example of when you exhibited leadership?
Analyst
I had 1 quick phone interview, then an in-person meeting with the manager, followed by a third interview with two team members. I didn't get the job, and when I tried to follow up with the manager, they ignored my calls and never got back to me. Usually, managers at least call back to let me know they picked someone else.
- Can you describe a tough situation where you couldn't meet a deadline?
