Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Keybanc Capital Markets.
Investment Banking Analyst
It started with two resume screens, one by HR and another by the coverage/product group. I passed both and then had an intro call with HR. After that, I had a first round interview with the VP of the M&A group, which was mostly behavioral with a few general valuation questions. The Superday consisted of 3 interviews, each lasting 30 minutes. It was pretty chill and included a mix of behavioral and technical questions focusing on accounting and valuation. I didn't get an offer, but it was a positive interview experience.
- For strategic buyers and financial sponsors, what valuation methods would be appropriate?
Investment Banking Analyst
The interview process started with a screen call, followed by a first round phone interview with two bankers. Then, there was a superday which consisted of 3 separate 30-minute interviews. The interviews were very focused on fit, and also included technical questions about DCF, the M&A process, and LBO math. Overall, it was a great process.
- Could you please tell me why you are interested in KBCM?
- What do you consider to be your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
Investment Banking Associate
I had a screening call with the recruiter first, then I spoke with two Associates and two VPs. Over the weekend, I had to do a case study that involved building a model and a short deck. The following week, there was a superday where I met with eight Managing Directors and directors.
- Could you explain the three financial statements?
- What makes you prefer the NYC office compared to the Cleveland HQ or other locations?
