First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kerry.
Accounting Assistant
I applied online. HR called me after two weeks, but I missed the call twice. When I called back, no one answered. We never got in touch. Just when I felt hopeless, they emailed me for an F2F interview next week at Nass. They also sent a link for an online test, which wasn't too difficult. The F2F interview was with an HR person and a financial accountant, lasting about an hour. The HR person asked some competence and behavior questions, while the financial accountant asked some technical questions. Lots of questions were asked during the hour. I'm currently waiting for feedback… good luck to me 😊

Applied online and after a few weeks, HR called me. HR did a phone screening and then sent me some time-consuming and difficult assessments, which I passed. They then scheduled an in-person interview a few weeks later and paid for my travel. The in-person interview was a bad experience. The first interviewer was 20 minutes late and I waited another 15 minutes for the next batch of interviews. Two interviewers seemed annoyed to be there, one even checked emails while I was speaking. I got the impression that Kerry isn't for you if you don't want to work extremely hard and give up your personal life. The interviewers seemed stressed and like they didn't have time to interview me. Because my interviews started late, I barely had time to catch my flight and didn't get lunch. Even if they had started on time, they should have scheduled my flight later or had the interview earlier.
- Would you do well in a fast-paced work environment, given that I sometimes have so much to do I don't know where to start?

So the process is pretty standard for graduate schemes in the UK, like what most companies do. You start with the online application, where you chuck in your education details, any past experience, and answer some basic questions like 'Why Kerry?', 'Why this programme?', and 'Why FMCG?'. If you get past that, you'll do a numerical test. Pass that, and it's on to a verbal test, then a situational judgement test. They aren't a walk in the park, but I reckon the pass marks aren't ridiculously high 'cause I wasn't perfect and still got through. Then came a video interview – you get about 5 questions total, with a bit of thinking time before you have to answer within a set time limit. The good thing is they give you a heads-up beforehand about what kind of questions to expect. They asked about current sector challenges and how I could help the company thrive. If you're successful there, it's onto the final stage: the assessment centre. They're pretty decent though, covering travel costs and booking you into a hotel nearby. They also give you an exercise the day before, which for me was a budget analysis, finding missing figures and explaining the variances. It was pretty basic, the tricky part was figuring out how to explain the differences. After that, there was a group presentation based on a case study about whether to invest in R&D, switch suppliers, or focus on short-term profit. Lastly, I had a panel interview with someone from HR and a senior financial controller. Mostly behavioural questions, along with my MS Office skills and more chat about Kerry Group.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in Kerry Group and this particular sector?
- What do you see as the biggest challenges facing companies in this industry today?
- In what ways can the finance department help address these current challenges?
