First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kenworth Truck.
Project Engineer
I applied online since I have a solid background as an engineer in the auto industry. I got an automated email for a phone interview. I tried to schedule it with the recruiter, she rescheduled twice and then stood me up twice. It was unprofessional, but I gave it another try. The interview finally happened on the third attempt and went okay. I was excited to discuss my experience, and HR asked about my salary and expectations. After about a week, I had Skype interviews with two hiring managers. They seemed like nice people and asked relevant behavioral questions, which I answered well. The company culture seemed very formal, with people in suits on a Friday. I never heard back, not even a rejection. I emailed the recruiter after three weeks and weekly thereafter, but got no response. I assume I didn't get the position but don't understand why I wasn't told.
- Could you state your current salary?
- Is there any negotiation on offers?
Design Engineer
Kenworth's hiring process moved pretty fast once it started. Since I was initially an intern, the screening phase was probably quicker. The interview involved a set of technical questions that they've apparently used for a long time. The panel included a few potential supervisors, a section manager, and HR. It went on for about two hours.
- Can you find the distance 'x' from the provided diagram and describe three to four methods to arrive at that solution?
Engineer
Took 3 tries to get a phone interview with HR. The first two times it was scheduled, but I never got a call. I emailed after each no-show, and each time got a different excuse the next day. After the third phone interview, I never heard back.
- Can you explain your reasons for leaving your last job?
- Could you elaborate on your experience?
- What are your career aspirations and what are you seeking in a new position?
