Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at KellyMitchell Group.
Recruiter
I was contacted by an internal recruiter. After an initial screening call, they invited me to their downtown office. I met with a manager who asked about my background, shortcomings, and motivation for recruitment. I got an offer before finishing the process, but it was a good experience up to that point.
- Can you share one of your weaknesses?

I applied online for a recruiter role in the Chicago office and got an email to schedule a phone interview pretty quickly. The first interview was with Megan, the hiring manager for recruiters there. She was really nice and asked a lot about my background and resume. A few days later, I was invited for an in-person interview. It was a pretty standard interview with Megan again. Another interviewer, Shannon, was supposed to join but had a last-minute meeting conflict. I've interviewed with three other major tech recruiting firms in Chicago, and Megan was definitely the best internal recruiter I've encountered. She's very direct and transparent, providing detailed information about the job. She seems great at her job and clearly enjoys it. I got the offer two days after the in-person interview and I'm confident about accepting it.

- What about your sales experience?
Technical Recruiter
First, I had a pretty simple phone screening. After that, I went in for an in-office interview where I met with four different people separately, and they all asked me the same questions and about my background. It ended with me shadowing someone. The whole thing took about 2 hours. The next day was my final interview, which was also over the phone. It included the same interview questions and background reviews. In total, I spent over 3 hours interviewing with different people at the company over two weeks, but I didn't get an offer. I just got a generic email saying they moved on. After dedicating so much time, a phone call would have been more considerate. It felt cold and rude, and not a place I'd want to work.
- Can you describe a situation where you faced a competitive environment?
