First, I spoke with the HR manager in NY for about 10 minutes, mostly about my background and the job. They let me know upfront that the salary wasn't that high. About a week later, the hiring manager from Washington, DC reached out to schedule an interview. I went in, filled out an application, and then talked with two people as a panel. I liked that they focused on whether this job was a good fit for me, really emphasizing how routine the work is. I got offered the job about 5 days after that, and I accepted. You really have to want this specific job at Katz, not just any job or a job in media sales.

The first interview was a phone call with the recruiter, Jenica. I prepared by writing answers to common questions I found online. After that, she scheduled two interviews for me at different companies, one in national sales and one in television sales. Both interviews were structured similarly. I met with three people at each company, so bring extra copies of your resume. It's important to research the company and its business. I specifically recall being asked about the reason for Katz Media's numerous companies/departments and why the specific company had offices in multiple cities. Each interviewer also asked if I had questions, so be sure to have plenty prepared. Each interview lasted about an hour to an hour and a half and was a positive experience with friendly people who seemed to enjoy their jobs.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The hardest questions are related to what the company does and your comprehension of the job itself.
  • Nothing unexpected was asked.

I had a phone interview for the Sales Assistant role in Los Angeles at Millennium TV. The hiring manager reached out within a week of my online application. During the call, they asked about my salary expectations, which we had already discussed via email. I was informed within a week if they intended to proceed with further interviews.
